Dream Analysis Questions: I had two very vivid dreams last night. What do they mean?

I had two pretty vivid dreams last night.

One was, I was a professor and had to teach a very large Algebra class at a college. The room was huge, like an auditorium, and I had to use a microphone. It was the first class of the year, so I had to introduce myself and the text, and give students the basics.

Now, in reality, I teach in the Arts and Humanities division of a small college. I guess I could fudge teaching Algebra if I really had to, so in the dream I'm mostly buying time until the next class and worried that I have to get the instructor's copy of the book so that I could be better prepared next time. The class was a bit chaotic, being so large.

In dream No. 2, same night, an old girlfriend of mine accidently gets an e-mail I had intended to send to a current female friend, describing the old girlfriend, and the old girlfriend gets in touch with me, very mad, and I feel I've lost her forever now with no chance of ever getting back together.

Meanings? Thanks!

  1. Dream #1- Sounds like you're feeling some pressure on your current job.  Could you be wondering how a situation is going to turn out?  Will you "know what to do" or will you "have buy" during a upcoming situation.

Dream #2 - Something in your daily life sparked a memory of your old girlfriend.  Sounds like she hurt you and you may have tried to get her back but you weren't successful.  She definitely hurt you when she left and the recent memory of her brought back that pain.

  2. The first one is quite simple.  You are apprehensive.  You are still working to solve the problem... "I guess I could fudge teaching Algeba if I really had to"...  "buying time until the next class and worried"...

I would be willing to bet it has nothing at all to do with your job, but since that is your area of expertise, that is your comfort zone and you can problem solve easier in that field.

"A bit chaotic, being so large"...  major decision, but you are trying to place your confidence in the knowledge you will make the correct decision for yourself in the end.  You are aware that the decision you make will have a rocky beginning, because another avenue will be affected by the decision you make.

Hmmm... have to wonder, same night as dream # 2??  Something or someone stirred up some feelings from the past, and you are not yet ready to close the book on the past.

You have moved on, but your heart keeps looking back.  Yeah, I have to say, in retrospect there could definitely be a correlation between the two dreams.

  3. hmm im not sure about the first one.

but the second one i think that sometime before you fell asleep that day you might have thought about ur old girlfriend or she may have come up in something and you just had her on your mind. doesnt always have to mean anything. just some things that ur mind rememebrs and reflects in ur dreams

  4. I think KM is right. You have been chatting with the ex GF and trying to make it work with your wife. You are at opposite ends and pretty confused. Dreams aren't always just nothing, many times they are ways our subconscious uses to problem solve without our own intellect getting in the way.

That is one of the reasons REM sleep is essential and if you can't get into the REM cycle sleep your health can be compromised. If it continues you can develop a true sleep disorder.

Things are just getting to confusing for you right now.. any chance you can take some time and conciously plan to just let yourself wool gahter and let your mind rest. You have an intense personality so I kno turning off the thinker would be a really hard thing but everyone needs to be able to drift and just "be" sometimes. It is a skill worth learning.

I am a person that has to stop and do that now and then myself.

  5. nothing...just dont eat before u go to bed...cause u dream c**p like that..and then u wonder what it means lol

  6. they are 2 anxiety dreams something in your life is causing you anxiety so you are creating problems in your sleep
