Dream Esteem likely to win the J & C Voyageurs Handicap Hurdle
David Pipe’s mare, Dream Esteem, has got a very good chance of winning the J & C Voyageurs Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow in England on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The cash prize of winning the class-three event is £5,848.
The total race distance is 2 miles and 110 yards, but the track conditions are heavy, which might test the runners. The event has attracted nine entries and they are: Charm School, Dream Esteem, Action Impact, Arthurian Legend, Lamps, Cadoudalas, Handy Andy,
Captain Sharpe and Pret A Thou.
Dream Esteem will be the bookmakers’ favourite, as she has got a decent record in hurdles. Out of the eight times she took part in such events, there have been only two occasions where she failed to finish in the top three.
However, the seven-year-old mare has got only one victory to her name whereas the rest have been either runner up or third place finishes.
Despite that, the punters will be encouraged to put their money on Dream Esteem, as she will be partnered by A. P. McCoy. The veteran jockey has got a fabulous record over hurdles, winning 531 of them. His winning prize money in such events is £2,870,191.40.
Other than the favourite mare, there is also a solid chance for Charm School, trained by Evan Williams. He has taken part in five hurdles so far, winning one of them. There have been only a couple of occasions, where he failed to make it into the top three.
The seven-year-old gelding will be ridden by Adam Wedge, jockey who has won nine hurdles so far. He will be looking forward to bring up his 10th victory today, but will not find it easy at all.
Action Impact, trained by Gary Moore, will also give a tough time to the top two favourites. He has entered nine hurdles so far, winning a couple of them. He also has a couple of runner up finishes to his name.
The eight-year-old gelding will be partnered by jockey, Joshua Moore, who is looking to make a name for himself in horseracing. He has won 18 times over hurdles, but needs to work on his consistency.
Overall, today’s race will be quite interesting, as most of the horses are equally matched.
