I dreamed last night that I worked in an insane asylum with my Aunt Lisa whose name in the dream was Mary. it was night and raining outside and people , I assumed teenagers fooling around, tried to break into the asylum, we scared them away, pushed them out and all, but soon they started pouring out around the asylum, some were deformed, some wore scary costumes, they would hurt each other, pound on our walls and try to break in our door. My aunt Mary went missing sometime during the night, and the only one who seemed concerned was me. What does any of this mean?

  1. In your waking life you may have very little guidance and protection. And as a result you are trying to manage your own crazy life, but often get overwhelmed by craziness outside of your life. In fact, the craziness outside of you and your life often pours in like a tidal wave keeping you from managing your own problems and to focus exclusively on the problems from the outside. Your aunt Lisa signifies that little bit of guidance and protection you have in your life, but sadly that can't even stand up to onslaughtught of problems you face. Your life feels chaotic and overwhelming, but other people think you are doing just fine and they don't know why you worry. In your dream that is why you are concerned when your Aunt goes missing, but nobody else is.

This dream may belong to someone who needs more people at their back and resources to deal with the problems they are facing. Your subconsious would like you to secure this help, so that problems don't continually overwhelm you and create chaos and distraction into your life. Now is the time to find more friends who can help you.

  2. This means your brain is exploring an area (represented by the asylum) that you're afraid of. You probably don't express emotions very well. You push them down and don't deal with them.

So, your dream represents all your repressed negative thoughts. Your fears of being ugly ("deformed"), your fears of being trapped, your fears of being hurt. All these things you keep inside yourself.

In your dream, when they all started pouring out, it represents a release of your emotions. Sort of a freedom. When your aunt (in your dream) disappeared, it meant you didn't need her there for comfort anymore.

I'm curious how you felt when you woke up. Scared? Relieved? Confused?
