  1. Are they still calling that the "Dream Sheet"? It was always the "Nightmare Rag" to us. LOL

  2. Yeah i got my first pick....it was Norfolk,VA    i don't think you can increase your chances it's just where they need you the most.  You put down your 3 choices on where you want to go and they look to see if they need you in those places and if they don't tuff noogie  sorry

  3. Pick Iraq and you'll get it!!

Seriously, it all depends on where you pick. You can do research and see what bases/forts need what MOS/Ratings/AFSC and make a choice among the jobs needed, or pick your job and then hope for the best.

When my brother returned from Iraq, he signed on for three more years as a captain and chose Hawaii, Tampa FL (to work in JCSE where my father retired) and Italy. He got Italy, his third choice. It very much depends on the job you have and if your three choices need that job.

  4. The best way to get things done is to call your Branch Manager up at DA.

They love hearing from their soldiers to find out where they want to go.

EDIT:  It does come down to the Army's needs and where they want you, but you get more control if you tell your Branch Manager where you want to go and ask what your options are.

  5. There is no more "Dream Sheet." You need to update your ASK, and submit a DA FORM 4187requestingg assignment to your first choice duty assignment.

It still comes down to the Needs of the Army.

  6. The best way to get your first choice is to be at the top of your class.

Do well in PT, marksmanship, basic soldier skills, and basically in each aspect of your training.

They other way is to request the post that no one else wants.

  7. You didn't say what service branch.

The biggest factor, is to make sure, the base you ask for, is actually available for someone right out of Ait/Tech School/A School.

And that the base actually has the job you will be trained to do.

IE, for the air force, if your in bomber avionics, there is not much use, listing a fighter only base on your dream sheet.

  8. Dream sheet for what? You've got to clarify.

If you are talking about branches for commissioning...

ROTC National Order of Merit List breakdown: 40% Academic (GPA), 45% Military (LDAC & leadership performance in ROTC and training such as Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare, etc.), 15% Physical Fitness (APFT score your spring semester of your junior year and APFT at LDAC).

If you are in the top 10% of your year group's National OML, you should get the branch you want. If you are in the top 20%...you are considered a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) which stays on your ORB. You should get one of your top three branches in the top 20%.

USMA has a similar OML breakdown.

    -Army Pilot

  9. I've never known anyone to get any of there choices unless they wanted to only go over seas.

This is just my experience though, I've known others who get sent to there first choice. It just depends on where you are needed.

  10. nope...we wanted england and alaska....we got japan..lol its called a dream sheet for a reason...

  11. Its called a "Dream Sheet" for a reason... Occasionally you'll be lucky and get one of your three choices but chances are the military will ship you where they want you... Not where you want you.
