Both men were about the same size at 6' and both weighed about 190. Who wins this fight in their prime at at 15 rounds?

  1. Gene would out box Ezzard in the early going.  Ezzard is a great boxer but he doesn't have the foot work like Gene has.  From the feet up he can match Gene in every way and surpass him in some.  He just can't catch him.  So Ezzard will have to turn the BOXING match into a FIGHT!

Harry Greb proved that Tunney can be beaten up close.  He's tougher than some might give him credit for but Charles possesses the adjust to any style.   His fights with Marciano proved he can take anything Tunney nas to offer.  He's NOT as touch as Marciano.  Yet Charles went 15 with Rocky.

Falling behind on points,  Charles decides to drag Tunney into a fight.  Staying in close quarted he out works Gene over the last half of the fight.

    Charles by close decision

  2. the actual dream fight that never took place would have been Gene Tunney vs. Jack Sharkey...pick em.

  3. tunney would be quicker, and takes a decision over charles, who never stops coming all night,

  4. Ezzard Charles was just a bit faster. Ezzard by majority decision.

  5. Charles was a spectacular light heavyweight, and Tunney's lone loss came to a lower weight fighter.  This one is a lot tougher a call than it seems on paper.  Obviously most of Charles losses came long after his prime, and at the higher weight.  Tunney is tough to call against, he was nearly perfect, but this one is really a coin flip.  At 175, in his prime, I think Charles takes Tunney, but I always side with the slugger aggressively chasing the boxer, and as boxers go, Tunney was just about the best in the business.  If the same judges that scored the Leonard/Hagler fight are calling this one, Tunney would win, but if the Judges who scored the Cotto/Mosley fight are keeping score Charles takes this one by a wide margin.  Styles make fights, and this one is stylistically an even fight.  This one is clearly going to the cards.

I would take Charles, but with tons of controversy.

Um What Was The Question. I've Droned On Again. Propriety, Drivel, Bobby Fischer, Amalgamated, Hypotenuse Of The Right Triangle, Fisherman, Slack, Smitty was always brilliantly arrogant so I can understand being a little put off by him. I Have Alot Of Nerve Saying That About Smitty When I Myself Am So Arrogant. But Then I Am A Smitty Wanna Be
