  1. well Toughguy,no 'quintissential' words or other great descriptions for me LOL,you can sum this up in a more simple description,' A helluva fight!!'one if it were today with 2 similar fighters Id  sell my shirt to see!!Duran has the edge for me,I suspect a real needle match is what would happen, but Duran ko rnd 19.

  2. ROBERTO DURAN.

  3. Quintessential "Dream Matchup" - had Pryor kept it all together I believe he would mentioned right up there with Duran as one of the top 5 all-time pound for pound - I don't believe there were ever two pure fighters.

I could go on and on about their attributes, but when pressed to pick a winner; at 140 it would have been beautiful and controlled chaos for 15 rounds, but I think Duran single-shot power and hand speed would still have been slightly superior, and he was a little more polished defensively - I think those would have made the difference......Duran W15, as close as you can get, and it would have been maybe the best fight ever.

  4. Great matchup. I think Duran is the best lightweight ever. Pryor's non stop assault would have been fun to watch but Duran's defense was underrated. Duran's head was constantly moving, he slid from side to side well. He also went with a punch to nullify it's impact. Pryor defense was his offense.

In the first Arguello fight, I thought Arguello was landing some nice shots as the fight wore on. I felt he was "taking control" when the infamous bottle came out and Pryor got a second wind.

Duran was stronger and nastier than Arguello. His defense and the fact he packed more power than Arguello would have been the deciding factors. At the end of the fight I think Pryor's face would have been a mess(worse than after the Arguello fight) I think Duran still would have that famous sneer.

Duran by late TKO in the 14th or 15th. In a brutal but all time great fight.

  5. Duran vs. Pryor

Duraran TKO'd by pryor in 14th round

  6. great fight, but i can't really be sure who would actually win but just because i seen Duran in alot of close good fights and only seen Pryor destroy everyone he faced and i alson seen duran take the leap right over jr. welterweight and go straight to welterweight and up to middleweight and avoid a fight with Pryor. so i gotta pick Pryor

  7. Duran

  8. Wow can you pick em, unbelievable match up.  Non stop action from bell to bell.  Duran was the better boxer, and when he had to he could play the part of a matador, in fact Duran may have been one of the most under rated boxer's to ever be labeled a "slugger".  Where Alexis Arguello stood in front of Pryor and exchanged, Duran would have given angles and circled all the while inflicting punishing body shots in between the explosive exchanges.  Arguello was too flat footed and lacked Duran's foot speed, and one thing you could count on was that Duran wouldn't have been a "gentleman" Roberto wouldn't have stopped to admire his work after those big right hands that Pryor took in the Arguello fight, he would kept coming.  With all due respect to Arguello, he also lacked Duran's power and viciousness.  Where Arguello was a technician, Duran was a killer.

Pryor would try and force the fight, and Duran would take away Aaron's will with body shots and general violence.  Even if Pryor's chin lasted, it would have been a horror show before it was over.   Duran was nothing like Arguello, and where Aaron could intimidate Ray Leonard, nothing could intimidate Duran.  If Duran could beat Barkely, and KO Davey Moore 20 to 30 lbs's heavier, there is no way Aaron Pryor would have beaten Roberto at the super light weight.

Duran by decision, if Pryor's granite chin and ribs held up that long.  Great match up, it would have equaled Hagler/Hearns, can you imagine that fight if Tommy had Pryor's chin, my God what a fight this would have been.  Duran/Pryor may be the best match up bar none in boxing history.   Spectacular question, I really enjoyed thinking about this one.

  9. Duran wins, either by early knockout, or decision. Duran would have found Pryor's simplistic, two-handed swarming attack easy to solve.

  10. Roberto Duran by unanimous decision. Both can punch, both had good chin, both are tough but Duran was the better technician and he was smarter.

  11. WAR! that explains this fight in a nutshell!

these two go at it from the start, with duran's lateral movement and body shots vs pryor's two fisted combinations and never-take-a-step-back mentality

i see duran edging most of the rounds to take a close decision.
