  1. khaosai galaxy vs ricardo lopez, both are undefeated. i dont know who will win but i think its going to be a good interesting fight

  2. Jack Dempsey vs Rocky Marciano

I think a lot of people would like to see Louis vs Ali too, but I think Ali would win, and I'm not sure who would win Dempsey vs Marciano, so I'd rather see that one

  3. The most exciting would be Dempsey/Marciano. Duran/Pryor would be exciting too. I watched some fights on ESPN classic of Dempsey, yeah he was exciting but I didnt think much of his skill level, though the same for Marciano but I think he had a lot more skill than Dempsey. I think that fight would be better than Ward/Gatti I and Morales/Barrera I combined. The outcome... Marciano KO11.

  4. dempsey-marciano, all action compared to louis-ali

  5. Duran and Pryor at 135.  Duran takes Pryor apart for 15 rounds.  All of the fights listed would be great fights to watch but I would love to see Duran fight a guy who is going to bring the fight to him

  6. More of a fan of the boxer/slugger matchup, but I'd have to pick Dempsey/Marciano, in part because I think Marciano has taken a big chunk of Jack's turf in the hearts and minds of boxing fans.  In a dream matchup between these two, I think Dempsey would have no trouble swarming Marciano before eventually wearing him out for a KO.  Dempsey had better technique despite the 30ish year gap between the 2.

  7. salvador sanchez vs alexis arguello

  8. Ali vs Louis

  9. Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis,  this is the two best heavyweights of all time.  I think Ali would win but it would be an exciting fight!!!

  10. This is an excellent list.  I would have to go with Tyson vs Frazier.  I think that one would be just an all-out war!!!  I know a lot people think that Tyson would just overwhelm Smokin Joe but I see Frazier backing Tyson up and wearing him down!!!

I am writing a bi-weekly column for Fight News Unlimited where I do fantasy matchups like this.  Would you mind if I used some of these matchups for future installments?

You can check out some of my other matchups at:

  11. In their prime? If the answer is yes, I will pick without hesitation, Joe Frazier VS Mike Tyson.

  12. Toughguy I always respect your knowledge and imagination.  You make this hard because you said "Pick One"  so that's what I'll do.  They are ALL very good competitive fights with no clear winner.  It shows your knowledge.  I can't stand it when I see "Tyson vs DeLa Hoya"  or some off the wall catch that REAL Boxing people KNOW could never happen.

My pick is LOUIS vs ALI

I pick this one because I really wish there were some way to simulate this fight on a computer.  I think ALI wins easily.  For all his greatness,  and I have him second on my list,  I think Louis would have a LOT of trouble with ALI.

ALI possess all the things Joe has trouble with.  Fast handed, mobil boxers always gave Louis fits.  NONE is faster or have better balance and footwork than ALI.  He could litterally hit Louis and make him miss A LOT.  ALI could also dance and stay out of range FOR 15 ROUNDS!!!  Look at all his late 60s fights.

ALI is first,  Louis is second but styles make fights and I think ALI beats him easily.

I have Holmes and Lewis next on my list but Louis, though I place him ahead of them, has fits with both.  I think he beats Holmes, who beats Lewis, who could possibly stop Louis.  Lewis loses to Holmes and has a better chance of beating Joe Louis.  Louis' style gives Holmes fits.  He stops Larry late or takes a decision after scoring a knockdown.

I lied.  I said only one.  Couldn't resist.

If I were to pick another on the list it would be

Sanchez vs Arguello.  For all his greatness,  Arguello is more admired than Great.  Sanchez possessed the defense to trouble Alexis.   He also takes a punch well enough to survive.  He can carry 135 comfortably.  He takes a decision after a brief scare.  Arguello could possibly stop him though.

Robinson possesses the one weakness of Carlos Monzon.  He didnt do well against lateral boxers.  Ray is ahead of him all night long.

Tyson-Frazier is DELICIOUS!  IF Smokin Joe gets past round 4 Iron Mike is in for a LOOOONG night.  Joe didn't have the greatest chin and I could see Mike blasting him to the canvas a few times,  shaded of BIG GEORGE.  The difference is that, though Mike has speed,  Joe can hit him easier than he was able to hit George.

Mike has a better chin and more power but if Joe can take his attack early,  crowd him and take away his tools,  he will begin to wear Mike down in the middle rounds and stop him in 13.  Joe would avoid a lot of Mike's inside punches.  I can see him grunting and snorting while pinning Mike to the ropes.  Mike became lazy after the 6.  It must be a B!#CH to have Joe Pressuring you when you're winded.  He gave NO Quarter.

Armstrong vs Leonard is another Delicious fight.  Shades of Duran-Leonard 1.  The difference is that Ray could have won had he fought Duran the way he should have.  He proved his toughness against Duran.  Armstrong would not leave Ray a choice.  He would track him down and CROWD him ALL NIGHT LONG.

Ray GAVE it to Duran because he was psyched out.

Hammerin Hank would TAKE it even if Ray chose to move.

Leonard is the Solid THIRD best Welterweight,  BEHIND Robinson and Armstrong  IN THAT ORDER.

I'll let the others have the stage.

  13. Dempesy vs. Marciano! If this fight would've taken place, I don't think anyone could've predicted a winner in this...not even Burt Sugar himself.

  14. Jack Dempsey vs Rocky Marciano

  15. Really hard to pick just one from this list, every single fight on this list gets the mind working overtime, would of loved to of seen them all for different reasons. I would have to say though that the stand out one would probably have to be Louis Vs Ali, this is the fight for who truly is the best Heavyweight of all time and a question that will still be asked in another 100 years time i would think.

Cant go without saying that i would love to see Frazier take Tyson apart and Dempsey Vs Marciano would of been the biggest war ever in a boxing ring but then again Duran Vs Pryor wouldnt be far behind that for pure aggression. Great question, i think i was close to mental meltdown trying to pick.

  16. All of these are great fights but I like to see my dream comes true so I wish for a Kelly Pavlik versus Joe Calghaze fight. Best boxer versus best puncher in the middleweight division today. Could go either way.

  17. Always tough matchups with you Toughguy. You may have went over the line this time though. Pick just...just,just...ONE. Isnt that a bit like taking a kid to a candy store and telling him he only gets ONE peice. No wait, it's more like taking the kid to a huge candy store and telling him he only gets ONE bite of ONE peice. I ought to start kicking and throwing a tantrum right now. But I'll abide by the rules of your question this ONE time and pick ONE answer.

The two bouts that stick in my mind are Maricano vs. Dempsey and Louis vs. Ali. These are the one's that have been debated for years and still are in the boxing circles.  But since I can only pick ONE (tantrum slowly starting to build up) I'll pick Maricano vs. Dempsey. If we had the scientific technology to warp and re-distribute time, could you imagine the hype and build up to this fight. In the arena or stadium the air would be thick with electric tension on fight night. The tough  undefeated great heart vs. the rough savage do or die will. Battle royal. And a long time question settled.

And now, Since I get to make my own fight summary-list I'm picking more than just ONE!

    Jack Johnson vs. Dempsey

Stanely Ketchel vs. Harry Greb(Let the sparks fly.)

Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Carlos Monzon (I know Toughguy, its already on your's. But it's my list with more than ONE.)

Liston vs. Foreman(Just would love to see all those big bombs going off.)

    Monzon vs. Hagler

    Jack Johnson vs. Joe Louis

    Pernell Whitaker vs.Henry Armstrong

Gene Tunney vs. Billy Conn (Both quick and SLICK. The ring general against the ring thinker. What a chess matchup.)

    Gene Tunney vs. Ezzard Charles

    Billy Conn vs. Ezzard Charles

    Mickey Walker vs. Sam Langford

    Ray Robinson vs. Burley

    Lazlo Papp vs. Mickey Walker

    Teoflio Stevenson vs. Ali

    Joe Louis vs. Dempsey

    Jimmy Wilde vs. Benny Lynch

    Joe Gans vs. Benny Leonard

    Willie Pep vs. Eder Jofre

Okay, i'm done picking my list of more than ONE.

    Great question Toughguy.
