Question:

Dream interpretation help, therapist cooking breakfast

I had a dream that I was finishing up a therapy session and for some reason two of my friends were there. I can't remember who they were, but I know they were my friends. Anyway, for some reason the session got out really late and my therapist, she suggested we all stay there for the night, at the office. In the morning, she was making us scrambled eggs for breakfast. It was very strange, and I was hoping someone could try and tell me what it all means? Thank you

  1. It sounds like you think of your therapist on more of a friend level than someone on a professional level and that is very common for someone who sees them regularly.  It also seems as though you rely on this therapist very heavily to get through life.  This therapist seems very important to you and you may find this weird because you may think of yourself as more independent than you saw yourself there.

  2. perhaps your transferring your feelings for your mother to her

  3. It sounds like you are very comfortable with your therapist and with therapy, such that you think of it as a sleepover where the girls get together and share stories and eat.  Sounds very homey.

  4. It means that you are crossing the bounds of the doctor-patient relationship and looking at your therapist as more of a friend with whom you are comfortable.  This is known as a transference phenomenon.  ^..^

  5. I think dreams are full of imagination, just as day-dreams are.  You, probably, are comfortable with your therapist, or have moments when you feel as comfortable as when you are with firends.  Perhaps, sometimes, when talking to her, you wish you could sleep (because you are so comfortable or the room is warm & cozy....and the sofa or chair is comfortable).  So, in your dream you allow yourself to think "what if" [I slept here]. And, then, you think about breakfast -- and it follows, you let your imagination show her as making breakfast.  (Dreaming of eating may be caused by the physical sensation of being hungry while you are asleep.  And, being a caring person, she (your therapist) might insist on making you breakfast...or, at least, you would hope she'd be caring enough to make breakfast -- so you let yourself dream this.)

    It's possible.  :)
