  1. saddler would have been stronger at featherweight, so i choose saddler, who might have to rally to take it,  as azumah nelson did.

  2. Sandy Saddler... easy

  3. Saddler

  4. Nice to be back on this forum to answer questions been busy running around doing all types of things....

Saddler vs Gomez - Sadly Gomez as much of a big puncher was not effective really against the elite featherweights and Saddler was one of the elite. A dirty player with power in both hands.  My prediction is Saddler will rough Gomez up and take all of Gomez's best shots and KO him in 6 rounds. Take notice to when Gomez fought Sanchez he got roughed up and it was not due to dirty tactics. It will resemble Cintron vs Margaritio II....

    Good Question Toughguy..

  5. Man, you couldn't have picked to harder hitting little guys if you tried.  (Well, you could have, but most of the rest of us would have had a h**l of a time finding two harder punching featherweights).  Another spectacular match up.

The edge here goes to Saddler, size at the smaller weights matters more, and Gomez was the smaller of the two.  Saddler was almost a mini version of Thomas Hearns.  Saddler was a 5'8" feather weight, Gomez stood 5'5 and you have to figure Saddler's 70' reach advantage would have given Gomez trouble, heavyweight Rocky Marciano only had a 68' reach, so the physical tools all of Saddler were a featherweight nightmare.

I can promise you this one isn't going to need score cards, it's got no chance to go the distance.  Style wise Gomez is going to try and KO Saddler, and I think Saddler's punch gets there a hair sooner than Gomez's.

Saddler by KO in eight blistering rounds.

  6. Saddler every time

  7. That fight would depend largely on the surrounding and the referee and how much Saddler would be able to get away with.   Gomez, as great as he was, had two flaws.  He didn't take punches very well at 122 he usually didn't have to. and he became easily unraveled when things didn't go his way.

Saddler would tie Gomez up a lot and land a lot of inside punches while smothering Wilfredo and nullifying many of his power shots.   He would taste Gomez' power early and survive enough to know not to allow much of it.

He would also get the drop on Gomez, using his clear height advantage in close and outside.  Gomez wouldn't move the way Pep did and he wouldn't be allowed to land enough of his power shots to slow Sandy down.

By the middle rounds Gomez would begin to slow down and Sandy would move in and mug him the rest of the way until the referee steps in with Gomez still on his feet but with shut eyes.

    Saddler by TKO in 12

  8. gomez
