Dream possibly come true?

My best friend of over 4 years got in a bad car accident on March and he's still hospitalized and he can hear and react very little (like a slight moan or a movement of a finger or two). We've always been really close together and he's like a brother to me and a person I always dreamed of being: strong, independent, and free.

Well, since then I've had two dreams of him where he was well and walking and I saw him for the first time well in school and each time all I would do is scream "Oh my God! You're here!" and hug him a cry. Then the dream would be over with him just saying, "Yeah" nonchalantly.

What do you make of this?

  1. He's unconciuosly letting you know that he's still there with you in spirit. The two of you must have a very strong connection with each other because thats pretty much the only way people can communicate with one anouther without even being there. I wish him luck and always keep the connection you have with him strong, its a rare and special thing to have.

  2. You long for your friend to get well and it's coming out in your subconscious when you have these dreams. Apparently in the dream, he isn't aware that he was ever in a car accident.

These dreams are a way for you to deal with this overwhelmingly stressful situation.

I am so very sorry. What do the doctors say about him recovering, or is it a "wait and see" how he comes along?

Talk to him. When you sit beside him, tell him about everyday stuff. Believe me, he can hear you.

God Bless You and Your Friend.

  3. Agreed, our stresses and wishes have a way of coming to surface in our dreams; that wonderful gray matter in our brains constantly reminding us of things even as we try and sleep.

I am sorry to hear about your friend and do hope that improvement in on his horizon.

After 23 years in the medical field, YES, it is possible for him to one day "wake up", but if you look at the raw numbers, it is highly unlikely that he will be who he was before the accident.  I am sure, though you didn't mention, that there is substantial brain injury... very unfortunate.  But, do continue your conversations with him... many a comatose patient has awakened, only to talk and share all that they remember when WE thought THEY weren't able.  Continue to be the wonderful, loving and caring friend that you have been...  you will be rewarded!!

    Take care...
