Question:

Dream symbolism: Can you help me interpret a recurring dream?

Okay.

Since I was little I've had a vivid, recurring dream where I often return to a canal-type place. Only it is deep and long like a river, but the water is completely still. I always dream about traveling there first; on the back of a motorcycle, on a bus, in the flatbed of a truck. I never go alone, bringing family or friends or following some type of tour guide who knows the place well. Mostly I've gone with my dad.The water runs parallel to a highway. It is absolutely still. We row boats that leave us waist-deep or swim, in which I am either naked or close to it. Sometimes it is dark. I really hate going there for some reason.

Does this mean anything at all? Can anyone pick through this and relate to me what it could possibly mean? I have tried to turn over answers myself but I'm completely lost. Thank you, and +10 points for your helpfulness!!

  1. It sounds like some deeply buried negative emotion concerning your dad. Something that doesn't change. Perhaps it is something about you don't like, or something that he did that you don't think he has made up for.

It seems as though the place you go to is not so much about life as a journey, but only one particular aspect of your life, obviously a negative one, one that you can't escape until you acknowledge it and take action in reality.

I am not sure if this "problem" is obvious to you or still buried, but it definitely sounds like it needs out.

    Hope this helps.
