I have this dream alot, that I'm sitting at the bottom of this tank of water, my neck slit, and I can't breath. I feel a pressure on my chest And I begin not seeing anything, very slowly. thats when i stop breathing in real life. And then in my dream I see a pair of arms grabbing me, and trying to choke me. Thats when I spring out of my dream gasping, and my arms act like their trying to push some one off of me. My dad got pissed be cause I scared him, so now I feel bad. He left back to his work pretty mad. I had this dream before I would stop breathing but never spring out of my sleep like that. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent this from happening again?

Please and Thank you

  1. It's natural for your father to be scared but when something like that happens, you need to get up and pray. Call on The Lord Jesus, He alone can help you :)

  2. I think i'd feel pretty suffocated in a situation where I had to sleep close enough to my dad that he could see my dream reactions, and where his reaction to me losing my breath in my sleep is to be pissed. My only guess to give him the benefit of the doubt is that he thought you were playing around like you were suffocating and doesn't like that type of joking.

It does sound like you have some issues with lack of freedom and pent up anger though.

  3. Your dad is angry because he loves you so much.  He also knows there's nothing he can do about your dream, so he feels very frustrated.

As for the dream itself, it sounds like you are very stressed out about something in your life.  Figure out what's stressing you out, and do something about it.  Once the stress is gone, your dream should go away.  (Hopefully).

Dabbling around in the Occult can also cause bad dreams.  You haven't been playing around with Ouija boards, and stuff like that have you?

  4. He shouldnt be mad at you for having a bad dream!

Also you might have sleep apnea. Its a condition where people who are sleeping might stop breathing for a second. It can get serious for some people though (dont mean to scare you or anything) so if it keeps happening then visit a Doctor.

  5. maybe some guy is geting into your dreams to see how you would react

  6. The dreams suggests there is something in your life where you feel trapped, suffocated.  It also appears this not only relates to events but to also some individual in your life.  It seems as if  you do not feel you have any control over these situations as you violently attempt to escape.  It does not sound as if you Dad is supportive and it is likely the dream does relate to  your overall relationship with him.

To prevent the dream you need to make some changes in your life and take control of events rather than letting the events control you.

  7. To dream of being choked can mean that you are supressing emotions (such as fear, love, anger). Or you may feel that you are being prevented from expressing yourself somehow. It is not uncommon for people to wake themselves during these kind of dreams. Likewise to dream of being underwater also suggests that you are feeling overcome by emotions and need to take a greater control over your life. You may be in over your head in a certain situation.

As for your Dad he was probably just worried. I had a car accident and my Mum just started yelling at me - I'd scared her basically and she wasn't really mad just scared!

  8. Your father is a complete baby about it. Unless he was scared that you stopped breathing and is mad just thinking about how awful it would be if you died, there is no reason he should be grumpy because his daughter scared him as she woke up.

There's no way to prevent this from happening again.

As for the dream itself, you sound extremely helpless, muted. There's no way for you to scream, no way for your to save your life. That sounds pretty awful of an existance.

Also, how do you know you stop breathing in real life? Waking up gasping for air doesn't mean that you are.

  9. wow, sounds like you and your dad sleep in the same bed or something...hope not!  He's just mad because he had to go to work and you woke him up.  All ya gotta do is say your sorry for freaking him out but you had this wild dream.
