Dreaming of Cara to find her winning touch by dropping in class at Aqueduct
Richard Greeley’s 3-year-old filly, Dreaming of Cara, was on a high at the beginning of this year, posting a hat-trick and basically going on to win three out of four starts, but her campaign got derailed, and she lost nine in a row.
To do justice to the statement above, in many of those spots Mitchell Friedman trained filly was up against the likes of Colonial Flag, Better Lucky, Hessonite, and Shakeira, but where she is headed now, does not include anyone in the field of that calibre.
Modest competition will provide class relief for the daughter of North Light, who will run at Aqueduct Racetrack in a $69,000 first-level allowance feature at 1 1/16 miles on 5 December, 2012.
Dream of Cara is coming off a fifth place finish to winner Shakeira, but even in fifth, she only lost to a margin of 2 ½ lengths.
“I was wishing I’d catch that type of field all summer long,” Friedman said. “It came up like a spot she can be a factor in. I’m excited to run her.”
“I’m not going to make an excuse,” Friedman said. “She was reaching out, trying hard. She could have used a little more pace, maybe.”
After that hat-trick back in April, Dreaming of Cara couldn’t conjure up a placed finish even, regardless of the class, be it graded, stakes, or allowance races, Dreaming of Cara has been suffering a lot, but consistently turned in fifth or sixth place finishes.
In the first-level allowance feature at Aqueduct Racetrack, the horse to look out for will be Lady’s Lunar Luck, who has been in fine form, and will be running for her hat-trick in the Aqueduct’s allowance feature, and on top of that she loves racing at
the Big A, with 3 victories in 4 lifetime starts at the track.
“She looks pretty good in that spot,” trainer John Kimmel said. “That filly has done very well since she’s come to the barn. As long as the race stays on turf, we’ll be in good shape. She’s doing well, so I expect another good run out of her.”
