Question:

Dreams of ex husband? Weird?

I had this weird dream that I went to my exhusbands home out of state to pick up my boys from him and he took me to a new house he bought, his new wife was there and they were showing me around the house, then they showed me the laundry/room basement looking room with cheap bunkbeds in it that she said my children had to sleep in, my ex was trying to get me alone away from her and he kissed me. I am happily married and don't want anything to do with my ex, we have been divorced for over 5 years and barely even speak to each other now. What does this mean?

  1. Wow! Thanks for sharing that one.

I am a cognitive-behavioral style therapist.  I do not interpret dreams and I am not a medium or psychic.  Personally, I do not believe you need any of those to figure this one out.

It's a basic answer really.  I find that most dreams are.  He's your ex-husband.  You were married.  A piece of you will always remember the "good days" that you had.  After all, you married him for certain reasons, and you divorced him for other certain reasons.  Sometimes you will always be curious as to "the road not taken" meaning, you'll wonder what would life had been like if you two worked it out.

This does not mean that you are presently unhappy or want to go back to him.........it just means your curious.

Most importantly, you want to know if your boys are being taken care of.  Has any of your boys been dropping hints that things are not ok at "dad's house?"  If so, is it normal growing pains or not?

You may have seen how the kids' father is at raising children, but not know much about his new wife.  I don't know, I am just guessing at this point.

Bottom line.  Curiosity of your former life, mixed with wanting to make sure the boys are being taken care of probably spawned these unconscious thoughts that manifested into a dream that "looked good on the surface" but, "the basement was a nightmare."

Now, does Mother know best?  Take care of those boys.

  2. Dreams are similar to an unravelling of a tape recorder ...  your brain "records" every thought you've had throughout the day, and then "rewinds" it, at night (in dreams).
