Dreamweaver or theory

I would like to start web designing,

I already know some basic html, jscript and know i need to learn css.

You have apps like dreamweaver ect, would it be better just to learn dreamweaver and not worry about the 'theory' side of things

  1. to be honest, you need both. design view in dreamweaver tends to render horribly, and its easier to control positioning and layout with css style sheets. dreamweaver is a great program, adobe cs3 is all i use for my work and i love it, but just because the program handles most of the coding for you is no reason to not learn the languages anyways, any good web designer / developer would tell you the same thing.  


  2. I'd say learn to program without the necessity of a WYSIWYG. You can still use WYSIWYG's (if you choose...though I don't recommend), but the important thing is that you can figure out any future issues that may arrise in your HTML if need be. Rather than sift through a ton of generated, malformatted, WYSIWYG garbage. hehe

    Also, note that jscript is not the same as JavaScript. =)

  3. No, it is a good idea to learn programming languages just in case :)

  4. Sure, you can just start designing without any code what so ever.

    Just wait till the bugs show themselves, than panic sets in and you start to ask a million questions on why its happening. The codes in front of you and if you know the code then you know where the bug maybe, otherwise you will get stuck.

    Dreamweaver makes it easier.
