Question:

Dreamweaver using a document from MS Word?

I use DW CS3. In MS Word 2007, I created a quote balloon with, of course, text inside. When I import this into dreamweaver, the test is ragged looking.

I need to know how should I be saving this or what should I be doing to get this to look good in Dreamweaver and on website.

  1. You should not do your layout and styles in Word. Microsoft products write terrible HTML. When copying text from Word you should either use the "paste as text" feature of DW or paste into Notepad first to remove the hidden formatting.

A quote balloon sounds like something that should be created as a graphic image, then placed into the code.

  2. Dreamweaver will copy the text that resides in a Word document but it will not carry over styles. You may try to make a webpage out of the word document. Go to Save As and select Web Page as the file type. Then preview the HTML page it gives to make sure it looks right. You can take that HTML file and tweak it in Dreamweaver until you're happy. Dreamweaver and Office are by different companies so they may not always play nice together.
