Question:

Dress Circle or Stalls for Capitol Theatre, Sydney?

Hi guys,

I am going to watch Billy Elliot in Capitol Theatre Sydney.

I am going to pay $45 for Row T but am confused if I should go for Dress Circle or Stalls?

I'd like to feel close to the stage (I have bad eyes) - does it mean I should choose the Stalls?

But why people like to sit in Dress Circle? Do you see a lot more from up there?

Thank you... any advice is appreciated.

  1. Thanks for your question. I was wondering the same thing as we were booking for the same show and didn't know which seats to get as am not familiar with the Capital Theatre. I thought the stalls would be best but as they were cheaper assumed the better seats were the dress circle. Enjoy your show wherever you sit.

  2. Melissa,

The general rule with theatres is that the closer the seat is to the stage, the more expensive the seat is going to be and the better view you will get of the stage.

I should also mention that seats in the dress circle are excellent seats as well and that is why they are expensive.I wear glasses and I am able to see the stage when I sit in dress circle seats, its just that you are higher up and have a better view of all of the stage.

The seat that you want to buy is not the best seat in the house, but if you can't afford to buy the big bucks then You'll have to settle for that I guess.

When I go to the theatre I always buy dress circle or stall tickets but the ones really close to the stage (I do end up paying big bucks for them but its not like I go to the theatre every week)
