Question:

Dress code in Bermuda?

I'm going to Bermuda in May and I'm getting a lot of conflicting info about how men should dress. Assuming the weather's decent, would it be frowned upon if, for example, I were to walk around in shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops? Do I go more conservative with khaki's and a polo? I really don't like having to dress up if I don't have to, but will observe the native customs wherever I go. Please provide good examples of what to and what not to wear.

  1. T shirt, shorts, and flip flops, should be fine, of course depending on where you are and what doing. Just make sure they have sleeves, are new(ish), and don't have profanity on them. Also you be interested to know being shirtless in public is not acceptable except in beach or pool settings.

  2. Bermuda shorts and a polo shirt for day. Check with concierge about other places.

  3. you can find information ther :

  4. Some of the more formal (fine dining) restaurants still require a jacket, or a jacket and tie.

You'll be fine in shorts and a T or polo shirt for going to the pubs or casual spots for drinks and dining.

Also, if you are staying at a hotel, check the dress codes for the restaurant, lobby and pool areas. Some are more formal than others, such as the Reefs or Cambridge Beaches.

One thought, bring a light rain jacket for the tropical rain you may get--not to worry, it's over in a flash, and then sunny and beautiful.
