Question:

Dress for heavily pregnant bridesmaid?

My fiancee and I are due to wed in early April of 2009, by which time my sister (one of my chief bridesmaids) will be 8 months pregnant. We have purchased the wedding dress and bridesmaid gowns already, and now are in a bit of a pickle because her dress cannot be reordered in a larger size, as the style we choose does not cater for pregnant women. She does not want me to change the style of my bridesmaids dresses altogether, and frankly, I cannot afford the cost. However, I want to ensure my sister's comfort and make sure she feels beautiful, because she most definitely deserves to. To give you an idea about style:

my bridal gown:

the bridesmaids gowns:

a possible gown for my sister:

(all gowns in the colours they appear in the photos)

These gowns are from 'A Bride's Blessing' in Dymocks, Sydney, and I would prefer to shop only around bridal shops in the Sydney/Illawarra region. I cannot really afford to order in a gown at this point, unless it is under $800. I still have to purchase jewellery and hair pieces (the hair pieces for my 2 junior bridesmaids). Also, if you have any suggestions for jewellery and hair pieces (budget allocated: $500 - 650) that I can purchase either from a shop within this region or order online A.S.A.P., it would be sincerley appreciated. Thank you in advance - I can understand why wedding preparation drives a woman crazy and admire those of you who manage it so well - I'm exhausted and I'm still months of from my big day!

Your timing  with this question was excellent! I was reading the new  edition of Cosmo Pregnancy  just before jumping online tonight and all these stores are mentioned in the  magazine :)) . In fact it might be worth your while to pick up a copy, there is a fashion spread in the magazine  that features more formal / evening wear that may suit your sister

Hope those help or at least inspire.

  2. The Link For The Bridesmaid Dresses & Your Sisters Dress Is The Same.

Why Not Get The Same Dress, But In A Larger Size, Enough To Accommodate A Pregnant Belly, Then Just Have It Taken In Around The Bust A Few Weeks Before The Wedding.

Have You Tried All The Bridal Warehouses In Wetheral Park?

I Went There When I Was Looking For A Yr12 Formal Dress & You Find Some Really Nice Stuff There. There Is Like A Whole Block Of Bridal Gowns & Bridesmaid Dresses.

    Good Luck.

  3. The link for your sister's dress and the bridesmaid dresses are the same link!

You are a very considerate sister to make sure she is comfortable during a rather uncomfortable time!

Headpieces and jewelry can be purchased on eBay since those items are grossly overpriced in bridal shops.

  4. I cant help you with finding places that sell dresses for pregnant ladies but i can tell you not to worry you dont ahve to change the style completely

your sisters comfort comes first, but she does have the advantage of being the chief bridesmaid who can wear something different to the maids anyway as long as the dress is in the same colours

  5. I'm positive you could find a dressmaker to make a dress for your sister that isn't too expensive. That way it will fit your sister properly and she will be comfortable. You could have one in a similar style to your bridesmaids dresses, so it won't look too different.

As for jewellery, definitely have a look on ebay. Also kleins has nice CZ jewellery that's pretty affordable. You can also pick up bits and pieces from clothing stores - sportsgirl and sussan often have nice bits and pieces. DON'T buy from Diva though, it's cheap c**p that tarnishes after the first wear.

Good luck to you (and your sister!) and stress less!
