Dress to a wedding gift opening?

I am in a wedding this weekend and it's my first wedding to stand up in. Is it ok if I were to wear a sundress to the gift opening on sunday?

I'd recommend asking the couple, a sundress is likely to be ok though. It will be a fairly casual event.
