  1. showjumping rocks thats what i have to say

  2. I find dressage less nerve wracking because I am more focused and find a center while I ride the pattern.  Every step of every motion counts,  You'll have done the pattern a thousand times, it's always the same pattern but always goes a bit different,  You get in the zone and you're one with the horse,

    In jumping, getting over is what counts.  Between jumps I feel relief, relax a sec, then refocus for the next jump.  Even when I'm looking to the next jump over top of the current jump, landing is a relief and I have to refocus.  Perhaps not the best way, but it works for me,

    So, from dressage I get calm, centered; almost in a trance.  From jumping, I get thrills, emotions, excitement.  I'm an eventer, and for me the peak is crosscountry.  My horse loves it, I get the thrill of the jumps with the galloping to relax me and the horse.

    Benefits from dressage include:  better trained and conditioned horse and rider; increased knowlege of your horse and the capabilities of horses; techniques which will help in every other discipline.

    The best way to start is to get a trainer.  Obviously, you don't need one yet, but taking your other horse to dressage lessons will teach both of you a lot.

  3. Jumping you also have to practice,, Both are nerve racking,

    Until you get it down

    But you never really do because theres always a higher level to go thru,

    I love both

    I train my Jumpers lots of dressage and I do jump my Dressage horses also ,,

    But not to the point of  getting  Them nervous about it ,,

    The thrill comes in on higher levels in Dressage and in Jumpers

    There is nothing like them in the world

    expect for cutting ,, all is a Blast to me

    Dressage is verve raking also because your Alone and every little detail matters

    as in Jumpers it speed height and knowing where you are at all times ,, both can be hard on you ,, But winning is the best part ,

  4. I think that dressage is more nerve racking because the judging is much more tougher. You have to remember a certain pattern in your riding but I guess you have to remember the jumping course as well...

  5. I like dressage because, if you are doing it correctly, you and the horse are really a team.  That's true in jumping too, but in dressage you're asking for complicated movements with very subtle aids which an observer should not see.  I find showing in both disciplines nervewracing;  In jumping I get nervous about going off course.  Same is true in dressage since you have to memorize a test.  You can practice both dressage and show jumping but here's one tip: If you're going to be riding the same horse in the show that you're pracricing on, which should be the case, try not to do the entire dressage test from start to finish too many times.  Try to do little pieces of it.  Horses are very smart and they will learn the test.  The problem with this is that they tend to anticipate what you are going to ask for next.  So, if you're cantering and you're supposed to transitonn down to a walk at A, the horse may know walking comes next and do the transition too early.  In dressage, you are judged on making your transitions at the right time.  Also, jI found that ust learning dressage helped me become a better all-around rider.  For example, I finally learned how to get the horse to bend properly.  This was extremely helpful when I was coming off a jump and turning a corner to head for another line of jumps.;
