Dresser. Chest of Drawers. NEED Fixing Answers?

Ok so I have a dresser I just got off Freecycle, its gorgous, but the drawers are not all in corectly. I think its called tracking I need for them but let me know for sure so I dont look like an idiot asking around for them. I want to refinish it and paint it white for my daughter. Let me know please what all I will need for this job. Thanks so much.

It sounds like the runner, or track, on the bottom. If you have one drawer that works well, that is, slides in and out smoothly, pull the drawer all the way out and see how the track or runner is made. They usually have a groove on either side and are made of wood or metal. If you can remove it, do so, and have others made or buy some like it. If you can't remove it, show it to someone who does woodworking and they can help you make some for the other drawers to rest on.

if you really want to do it right, don't buy the cheapest runners you can find. they are usually that way for a reason.  there are several types of runners that you could use. the best you can buy are called full extension runners, commonly used in nice cabinets. these allow you to open the drawer completely so that you can see the very back of the drawer. They mount on the side of the drawer, and can support a LOT of weight. I wish furniture companies would use these instead of the cheap ones they put under the drawers, because those always break. however, if cheap is what you are looking for, they will work. you should be able to remove the old runners and take them to any hardware store to find a replacement. all you will need to do the job is a drill with a phillips head bit and a tape measure.  screws should be included with the runners. if not, a half inch pan head s***w is what you need. about three per runner.  If you have any questions feel free to email me.
