Drew League gets a chance to get even with Goodman League on Sunday – NBA News
With the NBA Lockout breathing into its fourth month, Pro-am games have been a dominant feature of this summer.
Over the course of the last two weeks, these games have picked up pace quite considerably. Usually these exhibition games are meaningless and organized to generate charity money but this time around there is an air of intensity
and NBA stars have been showing up in large numbers to participate.
This Saturday, October 8, 2011, almost all the prominent stars in NBA will feature in LeBron James vs Dwyane Wade charity game that is scheduled to take place in Florida International University.
On the very next night, a rematch between the Goodman and the Drew league will take place and the Drew league will be looking to regain their pride of their coast this time around.
The Los Angeles based Drew League versus the Washington based Goodman league is an annual must in the pre season. However, due to the extended lockout, the two sides decided to have another go sometime back. It was because, the
last time the two sides played, players from Drew League felt they were hard done due to the unawareness of the fact that they couldn’t foul out in these games. A few crucial decisions also went against Drew league that night and after losing out, they had
demanded a rematch right away.
Players scheduled to represent Goodman League in the game are Kevin Durant, Rudy g*y, John Wall, Michael Beasley and DeMarcus Cousins whereas for Drew League, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Nick Young, and Brandon Jennings will suit
up to avenge their last defeat.
Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawl has already labelled the game as the duel between “The Chocolate City against the City of Brotherly Love.”
He was psyched about the epic encounter and highlighted the disappointment on the faces of the Drew League players, when they lost 135-134 last time.
“They left here with a salty taste in their mouth. Felt like they were cheated and robbed, bamboozled. But when it happens on their end, I don’t know what they are going to say then,”
He was confident though that his team will overcome Drew League again because it possesses Kevin Durant, who according to Rawl is the best player in the league.
These matches may not be able to match the intensity of regular season matches, but will be fun to watch for those fans, who have been deprived of quality action because of the NBA lockout. According to NBA schedule, preseason
games were to start from this Sunday, but the NBA labour dispute has ensured that this does not happen.
