Drew Stafford’s two goals and an assist guide Sabres to a 4-2 win over Florida Panthers
The second game of Friday was played at the HSBC Arena as the Buffalo Sabres hosted Florida Panthers and won the game 4-2 in the end.
The game was important for Sabres as they looked to solidify their position in the play-off cut while Panthers were looking to play the spoilers as they are out of the play-off picture.
The game started off with Sabres dominating the early part of the game and scored to get into the lead.
Panthers were able to fight back and score to level the scores.
The second period was evenly contested between the two teams but it was Sabres who score to Sabres who scored the lone goal of the period.
The final period saw Sabres starting off strong and scoring two goals to get into a comfortable position.
Panthers scored the final goal of the game but it was Sabres who won the game 4-2 in the end. Drew Stafford was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and came up an important assist.
Sabres were stronger of the two teams at the start of the proceedings and managed to bag a goal in the second minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Jason Pominville from a well placed flick shot.
Panthers were able to respond to this with some decent attacks that saw them scoring in the fifth minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Sergei Samsonov from a brilliant backhand shot.
Both teams continued to attack and there were several scoring chances for them but they failed to convert their chances into goals. The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period Sabres made 10 shots on goal while Panthers
made six shots on goal.
The second 20 minutes of play saw Sabres starting off stronger once again and used this to their advantage with a goal in the third minute to get back into the lead. The goal was scored by Drew Stafford from a decent strike.
The period saw both teams coming up with quite a few shots on goal but they weren’t able to find the back of the net which was the most important thing. The period ended with Sabres leading 2-1. During the 20 minutes of play, Sabres made 11 shots on goal
while Panthers made eight shots on goal.
The final period saw both teams coming out better on the offence but it was Sabres who showed their productivity with two goals in the 10th minute. The goals were scored by Jordan Leopold from a decent tip in shot while the second was scored by
Drew Stafford from a well placed flick shot.
The Panther scored in the final minute through Evgeny Dadonov but this was more of a consolation. In the end, Sabres won the game 4-2.
