Drew Storen throws bullpen session as he makes strides toward returning soon – MLB Update
The Washington Nationals’ relief pitcher Drew Storen shows improvements as he throws a bullpen session. Storen went through surgery in April, which took a bone fragment out his right elbow and put him on a lengthy period of recovery.
Storen’s injury was a major setback for the Nationals. It had made the club turn to unreliable options late in the innings. Despite the fact the Nationals claim top position on National League East Division table, how the relievers have cost defeats on number
of occasions can always remind them of the need of having a strong bullpen.
While immunity of the Nationals may not have affected by one injury, since relievers like Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez also got injured, their bullpen emptied and options for the manager were limited. That at times made the manager helpless and forced
him to take unwanted decisions.
The fact Storen has begun throwing in the bullpen can envisage a fast-track return to the season. By playing rehab games, he can regain rhythm and start a steady journey toward becoming a reliable option for the club late in the innings.
Storen expresses his happiness over getting back to the mound. He is aware of the need to observe caution at the start.
“Feels good,” Storen said. “Good to be back out on the mound. It’s definitely an adjustment to not let it go 100 percent from the start. But I like I said before, I’m seeing improvement. Gotta take it a day at a time.”
Johnson was fairly satisfied with his time on the mound. He stated that Storen felt no big problem while he revolved his arms. He calls the progress well on course and fast heading to his appearance in the season.
“No problems afterward,” Johnson said. “I think he was a little disappointed. He thought he’d feel a little better than he felt the second time out, but I wasn’t expecting anything less from Storen.”
Bullpen that the Nationals possess is not as mediocre as it has been made to look for number of times in the season. It was due to injuries to their most dependable relievers.
Therefore, getting relief pitcher Storen resuming the mound and throwing painlessly is a great sign.
