The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 defender has revealed that PSV Eindhoven winger Dries Mertens is looking to ply his trade in Germany, possibly with Bayern Munich.
Simons has informed that his Belgium teammate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dries-Mertens-c11679, is seeking a career in Germany with German giants, Bayern Munich. He stated that Mertens is dreaming about playing in the Bundesliga and wants to play for one of the
best teams in the country.
Mertens has been widely linked with clubs from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Bayern Munich, but a move in the January transfer window is unlikely as PSV do not want to
sell before the season ends.
Simons mentioned that he has already told Mertens about the competitive nature of the Bundesliga, which is definitely one of the best leagues in Europe. The 35-year-old Belgian reckons that the former Utrecht winger can perfectly
settle in Germany, and could emulate Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marco Reus’ form in the coming years.
While talking to sports website, Spox.com, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 veteran further added:
"Dries wanted to know my opinion of Bayern Munich, and asked how it is to play in the Bundesliga. I have told him that the Bundesliga is a great league. I definitely think that he has what it takes to make the step to Bayern. He
doesn't have [Borussia Monchengladbach winger] Marco Reus' pace, but he plays at a similar level."
Simons claimed that his international teammate has all the qualities to succeed in Germany and that the winger has the talent to become as big a player as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733. He admitted that the player has proved himself in the Dutch
League and is looking for a tougher challenge in Europe.
On the other hand, Mertens signed for PSV last year, 2011, and so far has already scored 14 league goals from 19 appearances. The 24-year-old earned his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 debut in 2011, and has earned eight international caps until now.
