PSV Eindhoven have acquired the services of Dries Mertens from FC Utrecht. The 24-year-old has signed a contract with the Boeren that will keep him at Philips Stadion until the summer of 2015.
The Boeren had been in search of a new midfielder since the transfer of Balazs Dzsudzsak to Russian Premier League outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Anzhi-Makhachkala-c39068, earlier this month. The Hungarian International performed impressively at the left flank for PSV in his three-season
stay at Philips Stadion. The Boeren management wanted to lure a perfect replacement for the Hungarian International and they see Mertens as an ideal replacement of Dzsudzsak.
The 24-year-old arrived at Stadion Galgenwaard in the 2009/10 season from AGOVV Apeldoorn. The highly-rated winger scored 16 goals in 65 appearances for the Utreg in his two-season stay at Stadion Galgenwaard. Furthermore, his bagful of assists made him
one of the best wingers playing in the Dutch top tier.
The Belgian International was unable to hide his happiness after signing a contract with the Boeren and revealed that he wants to become a champion with the Eindhoven giants.
“This is a very good step for me. I hope to become Dutch champions with PSV and play in UEFA Champions League. It’s amazing that I am playing for the club, where Romario and Ronaldo had played”, Mertens was quoted as saying to the media.
The 24-year-old likes the fact that his teammate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Strootman-c20775, would also be playing for the Boeren in the upcoming season and revealed that he has developed a good understanding with the 21-year-old defensive midfielder in the last six months.

The winger then went on to reveal his gratitude towards the Utreg, who gave him the chance to play in the Dutch top flight.
“I am very grateful to FC Utrecht, as they gave me the opportunity to step into the league. With FC Utrecht, I developed myself. And now, I go to PSV”, Mertens concluded.
