The Belgian attacker has urged his teammates to put in a dominant show in their upcoming UEFA Europa League tie against the Serie A outfit at home if they are to claim all three points.
PSV Eindhoven will lock horns against SSC Napoli in their upcoming UEFA Europa League fixture at Philips Stadion on Thursday, October 4.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dries-Mertens-c11679, the Boeren winger, has expressed confidence that his side will manage to claim a good result in front of their home crowd if they could manage to enjoy lion’s share of ball possession.
“Well, we’ll have to see to it that we enjoy the bulk of possession and things will be all right”, Mertens was quoted as saying to the media personals in the pre-match press conference.
The Belgian forward, who has been plying his trade at Philips Stadion since arriving from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 in the summer of 2011, played against the Serie A outfit in the 2010/11 edition of the Europe’s second tier competition.
He revealed that the Azzurri have signed a couple of new players in their line-up, but has insisted that they will be playing with the same tactics.
“There are some new faces but Napoli will always stick to their style of play. They play five defenders when we are in possession of the ball, but they play only three defenders when they attack”, Mertens concluded.
Occupying the third spot on the Eredivisie table, PSV have thus far performed erratically since the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
Heading into the game on the back of an impressive 6-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VVV-Venlo-c40915 in the league, the Boeren would be looking to keep their good domestic form intact to emerge victorious in their upcoming Europe’s secondary club competition to keep their European
hopes alive.
However, the Boeren knows that it will not be an easy task to claim all three points against an in-form Partenopei, who have yet to suffer a defeat this term.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of FC Dnipro in their Group F opener on September 20.
