Driftwood my friend gave me?

My friend had some driftwood in his front lawn display and he knew that I have a fish tank so he gave the driftwood to me, I doubt it'll sink, but if it doesn't, should i "Boil" the wood for 6 days? Also, I'm not sure if it's rotting. Will this matter? Btw, I have guppy's.

I don't think you should boil it for 6 days. Just boil it for like 20 minutes and let it cool.

If you have a pressure cooker, I would try that.  Pressure cookers get a lot hotter than boiling (to kill germs) and would impregnate the wood with water better.  Let me know how it goes,  I think I am going to try it.  Don't boil it for 6 days, You'll end up catching the house on fire.  LOL

Well if it's drift wood, it's drift wood.

But I would suggest that you do boil it just for maybe 30 minutes to clear it from germs or insects that could get into your tank.
