Drill training well for Bob Baffert, as he goes into serious training ahead of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
Bob Baffert trained 2-year-old colt, Drill, is getting ready for his first ever Breeders’ Cup run, and he will pointed toward the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on 5 November, 2011, at Churchill Downs.
Along with Drill, Bob Baffert’s another cup prospect is the 2-year-old filly, Candrea who just lost a grade 2 race earlier this month.
These two runners are Bob Baffert’s best hopes for the Breeders’ Cup races next month, and both of them are working terrific under the watchful eye of the Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, as each of them worked half a mile in 46.60 seconds at Santa Anita
Park on 13 October.
Candrea and Drill completed the distance in the same time, but they did not run together or at the same time.
It was the son of Lawyer Ron, Drill who started off his work galloping out six furlongs in a good time of 1 minute and 11 seconds. Drill is expected to do well in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.
Drill broke his maiden in the second attempt at Del Mar at about 6 ½ furlongs on 13 August, 2011, on dirt, defeating Seal the Deal and Spit Ball with the winning time of 1 minute and 16.56 seconds.
Next up for him was the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, which Drill bagged easy at about seven furlongs, and defeated Creative Cause and Majestic City to go 2 in 2 at Del Mar on 7 September, 2011, with the winning time of 1 minute and 22.16 seconds.
Creative Cause met Drill yet again in his next start, in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita, but this time Creative Cause redeemed himself and made way for the winning circle, on 1 October, 2011, with the winning time of 1 minute and 42.66 seconds,
Drill came in second defeating the third placed Ruler of Dubai.
Out of Cat Dancer by Storm Cat, Drill will be the lone for Bob Baffert in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile where he will meet with the likes of Union Rags, Creative Cause and Majestic City.
