  1. Captains practices are less about ball skills, and more about getting your squad prepared for a 5 game match.

I run homicides which are suicides where the runners face the same direction the entire run:  Touch the 10' line, run backwards to the end line, touch the center line, run backwards to the end line, touch the other 10' line, run backwards to the end line.  Sprint completely across the court.

The same drill can be run with diving across the lines when facing forward.

  2. I run captains practices every morning as well. Here are some of the things that we do:

    If you have bleachers:

Split the group into two groups. One ground does a set amount of bleacher runs while the other does indian sprints on the track.

Sprint the straightaways of the track and jog the corners. It's good to have them pair up with someone of their equal running ability.

    Wall sits

Split them in four groups. Have each group go to a diff corner of the track. Make them do things like 10 squats, 10 push ups and 10 sit ups in each corner and then sprint to the next corner.

Interval running. start with 5 which is a slow slow jog and then it increases every min (blow whistle every min) to indicate a change. It incerases to 10 which is a full on sprint. We usually do 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 5, 6, 7, 8, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. SOmething like that. It eats up time.

Jumping drills. For example have them each stand next to a line and do different quick jumps over the line like back and forth for a minute.

Let me know if you need any more. Hope it goes ok! :)
