If 25% of all accidents are caused by drunk drivers does this mean that 75% are caused by sober people. Therefore am I better off getting sozzled in the house before I drive to the pub?

People like you just make my job easier. Even if another driver/pedestrian is in someway neglegent, the courts go on your blood toxicology report. You can't say if the accident could have been avoided had you been alcohol free. Neither can your defence barrister. So I won't even have to go court, I'll just submit the report of my findings (you + alcohol = crash). Case closed and I hope you like porridge for breakfast.
