Question:

Drink suggestions?

I'm off for a meal tonight and am looking for any suggestions as to a nice drink to have with it. I usually drink lagers, but can't now - they give me horrid heartburn!

I don't want to drink too much, and am looking for a nice, long drink that will go well with Indian food. I was thinking of white wine and lemonade, but any other suggestions would maybe inspire me.

  1. Riesling wine, austrailian or new zealand, are nice wines to have with indian food, instead of mixing with lemonade, try them with tonic or soda water!

  2. I agree on white wine... unless you're going with a lamb dish and then red wine would be good, too, and have the advantage of not going down quite as fast.

The English blood in me tells me that a Gin & Tonic would also be a nice way to start the evening. Bombay Gin would be even more appropriate.

  3. magners with ice as will keep your mouth kool and its nice

  4. best bet is to have a sort of crisp white wine, as they last quite long, and really accompany the spices of Indian food really well.

  5. Lemonade and wine?  That would give me heartburn. Maybe go for a nice white wine spritzer.

  6. A good white wine.......... if your not sure which one.... ask your server or the bartender for their suggestion as to which will accompany your food best........... you can also let them know what you do and don't like about wine so they can suggest one more suitable to your taste....    :)

  7. Gin and tonic, but that might also give heartburn, just make sure that they understand that you want it long, many restaurants use those tiny little mixer bottles.  You really need about 12 oz of mixer to 1 oz of gin.  Barely alcoholic, and very appropriate for Indian food.
