  1. Well said conor. I'm sick of having my nights out made less enjoyable by drunken bloody kids (18 might be considered legally adult, but they're still kids in my eyes, especially the males). As for what to do until you're 21...etc... That is EXACTLY what a lot of you do anyway, whether illegally underage in some bus shelter or legally in the town centre. And before you start blathering on about sterotypes and pigeon holing all under 18s, my answer is based on my own experiences, I'm sure there are lots of mature and responsible young people out there, it's just that I rarely come across them.

You will agree with me in ten years time, I guarantee it.

  2. Not in the UK.

Can you imagine - what would university students do for 3 years if they couldn't drink?  That is surely their raison d'etre.  It would make the drugs scene much more attractive for a start!

  3. It is 21 in the states.  In Mexico there is no age laws, AND they have very few problems with young people@

  4. dont mind im 22 LOL!!! its silly really most of the drunk idiots are over 21 anyway

  5. About bloody time!!

  6. It might as well be allready, as you can't go into a store and buy something with out Id

  7. I have never heard of anything but to be honest I think its a good thing . The amount of drinking problems the majority of 18 year olds cause . I would say most are too immature to cope with alcohol. So the sooner it is brought about the better . The rest of us should then be able to go out and socialise .

  8. It will make no difference. Its a social thing that countries like spain and france have got so right. Alchohol is respected a lot more on the continent. The english are p**sheads and its going to take some years and a radical social change to alter that.

  9. good, i hope they raise the age of owning a driving licence to 21 as well ! what are you going to do ? why do you have to get drunk in the first place, its not big or clever in fact in just makes you look a right t*t, you may as well just pour your money straight into the lavy.

  10. When I was your age I would have thought it was terrible, but now that I am 29 and have seen the tragic behaviour of 18 year olds in clubs, I think it's probably a good idea, sorry!

  11. Here in the states it's already at 21 and it works great.  The reason they want this is they *hope* you're more responsibile at 21 rather than 18.  And really those 3 years do make a huge difference.  Now that I'm 22 I don't even have the desire to drink.  It doesn't have its appeal it had when I was 18 or younger.

  12. 21 would be good.   New York USA has that law and it works fine.

  13. Don't affect me I'm 21 anyway yippee! :-D

  14. Get a decent hobby, study or get a job.Too much time and money is wasted on booze in this country! There are loads of better things to do than always going to the pub!!!

  15. lol...well it's already 21 here in the US...don't worry..most of us made it to 21 even 'without' the alcohol...haha...

  16. About time too. At long last, this Government has got something right.

  17. I am all for the drinking age to be 21. There is nothing worse than seeing a child drunk or parents who allow their children to drink. I cant fathom it personally. Truth is..I know of a young man, 28 who is now an alcoholic. He cant even make it through 8 hours on the job without taking off to go to the pub.

It's too accepted here. Maybe we should think of the kids first instead of whats acceptable.

  18. I sincerely hope not. It's hard enough to get a drink with that 'think 21' scheme and I'll be 24 this year.

  19. What country are you in? I ask because most states in the USA have set the legal drinking age to 21 years ago.  I think it's best that people under 21 not drink because you get teenagers plus drinking together and get tragedies on the roadways.

  20. you say about causing trouble in the street, but in truth alot of young people cant handle there drink so cause trouble in pubs, bars and clubs. i think its a good idea
