Drinking a mare's milk?

Question

Is it ok to drink a mares milk? (i wasn't planning on doing so i was just wandering)

has anyone ever drank it? if so is it nice!?

I have drunk it and come to no harm.  I also believe that in the far east mares are kept for their milk to be drunk by humans in the abscense of cattle.  It was quite sweet and rich if I recall.  I was milking a mare to wean her foal.

The monguls make a drink of fermemted mares milk.  The arabs actually drank it too.

It is used in Mongolia.  Can't tell you how it tastes.  In the US a few mares are milked, but most milk goes for making medicine.  However a few people with cows milk allergies can drink mare's milk (however goat's milk is the more common substitute by far).

It's as safe as unpasturized cow's or goat's milk.  The Bedouins (or is it the Mongols?) make a drink out of fermented mare's milk.  Yummy...not.

There are 'dairies' for mares milk in France.  Given their proclivity for horse meat, makes me wonder what happens to the foals. . .

I had a cousin years ago that could not drink anything normal so my uncle had a mare that just lost a foal and she was gorged with milk. Kind of like a sign from god. So they milked her and fed my cousin. She is grown and great. As far as taste try it you might like it. I watched Gordon Ramsey and over there  there is a market for mares milk. Imagine that.

It is very sweet.  My friend and I satisfied our curiosity on this matter when we were 12 years old.

I read somewhere that alot of people do drink it, so i would imagine its fine i gess..

Hey. 2 years ago, my sister gave me a glass of horse milk. She said she and a friend were debating if 1% or 2% milk was better, and they needed my opinion. Of course, it was scorching hot outside, so it warmed up on the way home. I fell for it, and tasted it. I didn't personally like it, but it did no harm.
