Drinking age Melbourne.?

Hey I know that the drinking age is 18 but i heard that you can drink at home or at a restaurant. Anyone help me out? Thanks

the legal age at home or at a restaurant or anywhere is 18.however lot's of people give their children varying amount of alcohol to introduce them to it. medically ,while the body and brain are developing alcohol is not recommended. small amounts in small bodies can cause harm. i learned to drink responsibly at home, while my friends stole alcohol and went on binges. my mother would allow small amounts when at a restaurant but legally she was in the wrong.

- yer - in a public place u gotta be 18

- on private property - u can be 16 +

- u have to be 18 to purchase alcohol

If you are with a parent/guardian then it can be minor age. If it is part of a meal in a restaurant mior age too

Alcohol is not permitted to be served to a minor, that is anyone under 18. By law not at home, at a restaurant or anywhere.

you can drink at 16 with full supervision of a sober gaurdian, so like parent or legel guardian. if you are caught drinking under age with an adult who is not your legal gaurdian, they get in alot of trouble.

but you dont really get into "trouble" for drinking underage. its not like you go to jail or get fined for it.

ITS JUST GETTING THE ALCOHOL THATS THE PROBLEM.  YOU GET CAUGHT GETTING DRUNK AND YOU GET SENT HOME.

its not in america, where the rule about drinking is heavier.

my friends have been picked up drunk many times. they get taken back to the cop shop where the police try to find out where they live and sometimes who baught it for you. then they call your parents and let them chose whether you get taken home or you spend a night there to scare you.

if the parents arent reachable you spend a night there.

if your not too  badly drunk, they take you to a house that you want to go to, which is usually to a friends house.

in all restaurants, anyone drinking or buying alcohol is asked for id, unless they look like the regular 50 yrold.

In Melbourne, anyone under the age of 18 can drink on private property. You can also drink at a licensed restaurant if 1) you are dining with an adult , 2) an adult buys you the drink and 3)you drink it with a meal.
