Drinking age in Cococay, Bahamas?

I am going on a Royal Caribbean cruise in the end of July to Nassau, Bahamas and Cococay, Bahamas. If anyone has been on that cruise, what is the drinking age in Cococay? I understand it is owned by Royal Caribbean, and I am trying to see if my friends and I will be able to drink there. We are all 20, while one of us is 21. I am sure the 21 year old is in the clear, but what about the rest of us? Not that drinking is our main priority, but it would be nice to be able to, seeing that Bahamas drinking age is 18.. however, I don't know about Cococay since it's a private island. Thanks!

  1. I took my daughter on that voyage for her 18th birthday and she was able to drink on Coco Cay...at the time she was even able to drink onboard the ship once we were 25 miles off the US coastline in international waters...BUT--that was nearly a decade ago, and RCCL has changed their policy since.

Going back to your question, the Department of Homeland Security states that the legal drinking age in the Bahamas is 18. It also states that underage drinking is very poorly enforced...FYI

Coco Cay is a nice snorkel/beach break and RCCL serves up a great BBQ.

    Enjoy!

  2. The drinking age in the Bahamas is 18, I'm sure you won't get carded on Cococay. However, RCL does own the island.

Honestly, I don't think you will have a problem getting served.

You could always call the cruise lines and ask.

    Good Luck)
