Drinking age in mexico?

Im going to mexico next week on a cruise

we'll be off the ship and in cozumel (or something like that) for about all day,

i know the LEGAL drinking age is 18, but i heard they dont ask you for your i.d.

i'm 16, would they serve me with no problems?

No matter if you LOOK older than 18.

If you look younger (even you are older than 18) they will ask you for ID.

Usually girls look older, since they make up and use heels and nice "women" clothes. Men have more troubles.

If you look like a kid, they might not serve you, especially since it is an American vacation thing, but if you look old enough, as long as you have money, you can drink!

As you said correctly, the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18.

If you are 16, but look like 18, you will be ok, otherwise, if you still have a childlike face, the bartender or the waiter will refuse to give you a beer for sure, no matter how much money you tip them or you try to bribe.

On this days they have been some police patrols on turistic areas and if the police catch you drinking beer and you cannot proof you are old enough...you will end up in jail and the bar closed.

Mexico is a foreigner friendly Country, but regarding alcohol, driving and fire arms it could be very strong applying the laws...

so, my advice is, if you can get your beers served, be quiet, drink it, and dont get into trouble.

If you are deep into Mexico, you most likely will not have a problem.  But in Tijuana, Rosarito etc. you will never get into a bar unless you have an ID

im mexican,so im talking from expirience. usually if u say ur buying this for u parents they will be ok with it(like if u go in a store and buy a bottle of beer) but if u go into a bar just take out some money and tip the guy, for no reason just give him some money. Then order what u want.

ok, hold on. I'm having some trouble understanding this. Your question is "what is the drinking age in Mexico". then you say "i know the legal drinking age is 18"...so then why are you asking that question? to answer your second question, no, I don't believe that they will serve you alcohol. They are very lenient in Mexico about the drinking age,  but you're going to be on a a cruise full of Americans. Do you really think American adults are going to be OK with a 16 year old being served alcohol?

ya ive been to Mexico a ton of times.. they sometimes gave me beer in a little bag with a straw. that was gangster.. but they do it for the glass bottles,

My 14-year old nephew passes for 16, and he was served Coronas.  You should have no problems being served.  Tip well and enjoy yourself.
