Drinking for the first time?

*~* Disclaimer thingy*~*

Yes, I am underage. However, please refrain from attacking me, disencouraging me, or attacking alchohol in general. Things are planned out. People I'm with are responsible people, and are going to get drunk, but not drunk out of their minds. Public transit for all, nobody is allowed cars. It's going to be a good 16 hours from my last possible drink to when I have to do anything mentally stimulating.

~*~ End ~*~

That out of the way (To stop the long don't drink ads). Tomorrow night, I'll likely be drinking for the first time. Is there anything you guys would like to share to a first time drinker? Any drinks that are good to start out with, anything to avoid? Anything dangerous I want to stay away from?

  1. If you are underage then you should not drink at all. You will not only eventually get arrested for underage possession and consumption but the people who provide alcohol to you can get arrested for providing it.

Some areas this is a serious crime. Just wait till you are 21.

  2. honestly the reason manufacturers unsually don't make more than 100 proof (50%) alcohal content.. is cause it's dangerous

i agree with staying towards the weaker ends of the spectrum, wine coolers, hard lemonade, beer, etc

you can drink more actual bottles/cans (impress friends, w/e) and not get as out of your mind stupid or get alc. poisoning..

drink water like h**l before hand, and eat something big and bready.. pasta a or pizza or something.. something that will stay with you

but again you can't really say it enough.. it's not a good thing to abuse.. please now and forever be responsible

  3. Don't drink.

    F*cking retards do that stuff.

What the h**l is wrong with people?

    ITS BAD FOR YOU.

Wat the ****. didnt u just read the ***** disclaimer thing.

if ur so against drinkin dnt come in this ****** section.

    anyway.

    Start off with light beers.

  4. The thing about alcohol is that without experience you do not know where your limits lie.  Alcohol takes time to digest, so if you drink too quickly, by the time you start to feel the effects it is already too late, and you are going to get hammered from the alcohol you have drunk but not yet absorbed.  So start with lager, bitter or alco pops according to your taste and try to make each one last at least half an hour.  Your body takes about an hour to metabolise the alcohol in a half pint bottle, so after about three drinks and and hour and a half you should be feeling the effects.  When you feel drunk enough, slow down to maybe one drink an hour, that way you will be metabolising the alcohol as quickly as you are absorbing and you will continue to get the buzz without getting hammered.

As I said its down to taste, I prefer bitter drinks, beers and ales, but if you prefer sweet, then the small bottles of alcopops are for you.  Even wine is a good place to start, but you must use small glasses and sip.  Even experienced adults sometimes get caught out.

As most of the others have said, keep drinking water or soft drinks to keep hydrated and eat before you start.

  5. Don't drink.

  6. Make sure you eat first.  Having something on your stomach helps soak up the alcohol.  Take 2 Advil before going to bed, that saves on the hang over, and don't mix your alcohol, if you start out drinking whiskey don't switch to rum, you will be sick!

I personally don't like beer, so can't help you there.  I drink rum and coke, or long island ice tea's.  they don't taste like alcohol at all and you don't need many of them.

Glad to hear your being safe!  Be careful!

  7. *eat sumthing 2 hrs before so it can soak up the alcohol(its 2 b4 so in case u do get drunk u wont vomit)

*everclear is sumthing to avoid-its like 95% alcohol when most r just around 30%

    *drink slow

    *try mixxed drinks

    *have fun

  8. Stay away from the hard stuff the first time around, and don't mix liqours; stay in the same "family". Mixing them will make your stomach not so happy.

Have one glass of water for every beer/drink you have to make sure you stay dehydrated. Doing this, you can greatly reduce your chance of hangover.

  9. Drink beer or anything with a fairly low alcohol content. Take your time.  Don't be afraid to take a break and have water.

For God's sakes don't let anyone convince you to do shots or anything like that.
