"You've probably heard lots of suggestions for how to get rid of hiccups, and maybe you've even tried a few. Holding your breath and counting to 10 is one way some people can get rid of their hiccups. Other people say that drinking from the "wrong" side of a glass of water is the way to become hiccup-free."

I have heard it before and looked it up but the explanations are kinda confusing. So how you you explain how to drink from the wrong side of a glass of water???

  1.  not that hard to explain:

Bend over. Now your hand is holding the glass of water between your torso and head (which is upside down). Now drink the water with the lower lip inside the glass and the upper lip on the outside. Swallow upside down. It will feel different because the muscles in the back of the tongue (which actually carry the water down the throat) is now carrying the water "up" the throat because, gravitationally, you are upside down. When this happens, the tongue backing is hitting a hard plate that sits at the back of the throat lining, therefore carrying it into the esophagaeal passage. The reflex for the body to hiccup should subside, due to the fact that the water is forcing new muscles to work through this process.
