Drinking on Carnival Cruise ships?

Me and my fiance are going on a cruise for our honeymoon in June. We will both only be 20, but since we are married we can go alone. My question is how do they check your age. Do you look at your drivers license or what?

  1. your sail and sign card. when they take your id's and information when boarding the ship it all gets computed, so when your card is activated you will not get served. sorry:(

  2. Carnival

Age to cruise unaccompanied: 21. Exceptions: sharing a stateroom with someone 25+, traveling with a parent or guardian, sharing a stateroom with their spouse. Must provide evidence of age and/or marriage.

Age to drink alcohol: 21. No exceptions or parental waivers, even for travel in Europe.

    Age to gamble: 18

Other restrictions: If under 18, must leave nightclubs by 10:45

  3. as long as you have your marriage documentation, that's all they will need.  if you are single and under 21, you have to cruise with a guardian 25+, but if you are married, there is no age limit.  but drinking age is 21 no matter what.

  4. They will check your passport.  And yes, they look.

You're cruise card will be marked that you are under 21 as well.

  5. You will be needing a passport in order to take a cruise on Carnival.  The passport is your ID when you check onto the ship.  The "Sail and Sign" card is keyed from the age on the passport.  The card is your "debit card" on the ship as well as your key to your cabin.  You present the card when you order a drink of any kind (alcohol or soda) and the amount of the drink +15% tip is added to your bill automatically.

The Sign and Sail card is a different color for those under 21 years old and you will not be allowed to buy alcoholic drinks - no matter if you are married.

Do not try sneaking alcohol aboard Carnival.  They have become very agressive in checking young people's carry-on luggage as well as checked luggage.  You could be denied boarding with no refund.  Not how you want to start a honeymoon.

  6. Yes, they definitely check identification.  Please don't spoil your trip by doing something crazy, it is a long way to get back home.

  7. Your sign and sail card will let them know your age and there is pretty much no way around it since it is based off of your passport info.

  8. Your "Sail & Sign" card [room key] is coded as to >21 years old.  That's the card you use to buy your drinks on board, so you won't get served if you're < 21.
