Question:

Dripping, Drooling Kitty Cat?

My 6 month old male cat is a sucky baby. He definitely sees me as his mom. He is all over me. He ALWAYS lies on me. I always move him, but he does not give up. Well, for a while he was going through this phase where he would try and suck my shirt. He still does it from time to time, and it drives me crazy. It's disgusting. So I normally put a towel over my shirt to avoid him sucking my clothing. Well, lately he has been drooling a lot. It's like he is just sitting on me, and then drops of spit fall on me. It's gross.

Why does he do this? It's so gross.

  1. I'm not sure why some cats do this, my 2yr old little girl cat does the same thing. I have a special towel that i use for love time now, so I don't get too wet, and she knows it's time for lovin' . She has just recently tried dragging the towel to me for love. I also keep telling myself that her mouth is cleaner than mine, so a little drool won't kill me. It's still a work in progress, but all that really matters is the love.

  2. I have never heard of a slobbering drooling cat. Call the vet.

  3. awwwh

its probably cuz he misses his mommy =[

or he thinks your his mommy lol

    you should nuture him

its a tramatic experiance for a kitty to be taken away from its mother

    and litter mates

  4. My kitten does that too. She'll lie on my knee, purr and slabber on me. I guess just leave it, they'll probably stop drooling when they're older!

  5. Give him the heave.I wouldn't put up with that.Thats nasty

  6. Sorry, but it sounds like he's mentally retarded.

  7. aww, he just loves you, that's all! It's completely normal for cats to drool, but you need to consider this:

Has the kitten been to the vet yet? Has it had it's shots? Is it exposed to the outdoors?

If it's been exposed to the outside and/or other cats, I would definitely bring it to the vet to get it's shots. Drooling could be a sign of a virus. If it's never been out, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a kitten, it could be 'teething' so to speak. This could make it drooly, just like a baby gets when it is teething.
