Dripping from under the cockpit dash...what could it be?...?

we just got our 2000 bayliner out of the repair shop. we had various miscellaneous repairs: engine tune up, speedometer and gas gauge fixed. they said some of the wires under the cockpit dash (where the fuse box is) were corroded. i took it out yesterday and today for the first time since repairs and while driving the boat i noticed water dripping from under the cockpit dash onto my foot. it was a slow drip and had a metallic smell. any ideas what this could be?

Either a speedo tube leaking of if you have a water pressure Gauge it could also be leaking.

Yes bayliner were entry level boats and did a very good job in that capacity. If that's all one can afford then it is better than no boat at all. Nothing worse than boat snobs.

Speedometer hose is either loose or has a hole in it.

Pressure tube for speedo is cracked, I'm NOT going to go over the "Bayliner" speech but, they don't call "Bayliner" The Ford Pinto of the bay for nothing ! it's of poor quality, and aimed at people that are looking for a bargain, and don't know much about boats.

probably the speedo hose if it is replace the speedo pickup too because water is not supposed to get to the back of the guage,only air pressure. i'm sorry to say that a bayliner is not one of the best boats on the planet they were mostly made as entry level. if this is your problem, it probably won't cost too much to fix you could probably do it your self to double check your problem just pull the hose off the speedometer pickup it is usually on the starboard side r/s it sticks down into the water and is probably white or black plastic they are made to tip up when you put the boat on a  trailor thats most likley where your trouble started

could be either  the speedometer or the hydrallic steering fluid, I would have some one other than the shop you took it to have a look at it . Some shops have a great reputation some welll are EVIL . and just out for a buck
