I am 15 and have a valid driving permit in Illinois and i wanted to know if i could get something that says that i could drive to work and back without an adult or someone over the age of 21 in the car. I already have a car but cant get my license until February of next year because of the law changes. But i have over half my hours in and work is only about 10 minutes away. Thank you.

  1. No, I don't think so.

I don't know about IL, but in CA hardship licenses are next to impossible to get, and you would have to prove that it is a life-or-death situation.

  2. yes you can it's called a hardship license. With permission from your parents and the fact that nobody else can take you back and forth is a reasonible situation to get a hardship license. You have to file for it and you may not get it. every situation is different. Just try. What do you have to loose.

    Good Luck!!

Like you said, that is the law.  Permit is NOT a license.  The public safety doesn't disappear just because of your needs.

Ride a bicycle. That what we did when we were kids.

    Good Luck...

  4. i don't think so. but if someone was close enough and was over 21 that went to work with you. you could try that
