Question:

Driver's Insurance Question?

Awhile back, I got an O.W.I. It was kind of a b.s. one because I hadn't actually been driving at the time. For that reason, I was granted a deferred judgement. My lawyer told me that in the state of Iowa (where I live) that meant that provided I took care of all the legal requirements (paying the fine, taking a course on drinking and driving, etc.), that meant that in a year the O.W.I. would be expunged from my record. It's been over a year and I've taken care of everything up to now. Now I'm looking to insure my car again. If the O.W.I. has been expunged from my record, do I still have to inform the insurance companies that I got one?

  1. In PA when someone gets a DUI and they pay their fines and take the course for drinking and driving (which is a class called ARD)... most people think that means the DUI will be completely removed from their driving history.... it is NOT!

It still happened, they still drank and drove..... even though they took this ARD course to 'make it go away' ... it stays on the driving history for at least 3 years.

I don't know what your situation will be since you weren't really driving at the time.... but more than likely it will still appear on your driving record.

Best to be honest with the insurance companies that you call for quotes because if you fail to disclose something to an insurance company there could be further action taken by the insurance company to cancel your policy since you were not honest during an application.

  2. Typical situation you have like many other people, therefor,be patient and check out the resource here i found useful.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...
