Driver permit..?? driver liscense??

hey....im 17 1/2....and live in california.....i was going to get my permit....but then i read something on DMV's website.....it is as follows..

If you are at least 17½, you may obtain a permit without completing DE or DT. However, to get a license before you are 18 years old, you must provide proof of DE/DT completion.

I have not taken any drivers education....and i dont think i wud want to waste tym and money on it....so how do i just do the driver training..??

is there any way i can skip this training 2???

i wud appreciate it if sum1 cud help me out..!!!

If you read it properly, you dont need de/dt, you just have to wait till your 18 for your license
