So I am about to start drivers ed this month, i was wondering if I had to have insurance while I had the permit? I know that once I have my drivers liscense I have to have it but before then? I live in Texas and I'm a 16 year old female if that makes a difference! I want to be able to drive but I'll have to pay for the insuarnce (not my parents) so I kinda need to know when I'll be losing all that money! Also how much is it anyway? I would be driving a 2005 Rodeo, and I have good grades! Any honest answers are appreciated!

  1. im not quite sure about needing insurance right away when you are on your permit because you need a licensed driver in the vehicle . . . but in the mean time you can visit websites like http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com and view the insurance policies to find the cheapest one but i would also have at least one of my parents look over the policy to make sure everything will be covered cause they do know best . . . especially when it comes to stuff like this

  2. I know that in Pennsylvania there is no need to be insured while you a permitted driver. The requirements probably change by state. Check with your parents insurance agent.
