I am 17 years old and I've had my permit for almost two years. I took driver's ed at school and have more than enough hours of driving to get my license. What tests do they make you take in oder to get your license? I know you have to take a behind the wheel test, and since I had driver's ed I probably won't need to take a written test, but do they make you take an eye test? Because I looked on the website for the Illinois DMV (I live in IL) and it said you may have to. So does anyone who recently got their license know for sure? Best answer gets 10 points!

  1. No they still make you do part a and b of the driving test. I passed my tests two days ago and now driving with a full license. There is more to than most people think now. You even have to know like how to check the tyre pressure and checking the oil level now. They make you sit a theory test, which I did on the computer at a facility. If you pass that test you are allowed to apply for test B which is actually driving the car. The driving test last for about 30-40 minutes and consists of 2 maneuvers

  2. Yes, there is an eye exam, it is taken at the DMV. Very simple test. You will be taking a written test, as well as the behind the wheel test. Many states have the written test on computer, you watch videos of different driving situations, and make your decision on what you would do in that event. If you pass the written test, you move on to the behind the wheel portion.
