Drivers for mac

Question

i have bought jvc everio g series. model number gz-mg142. i cannot transfer any film onto my mac. can't open any of the files. is this thing compatible with mac and if it is how do i get the d**n thing working. it's the 2nd camcorder i have tried as i had no luck with sony i bought. this says it's mac compatible.
