Question:

Drivers license and adjustment of status thru marriage. help!?

My husband and I applied for adjustment of status through marriage to a U.S citizen ( me )

He came here, and worked here legally but his visa was not renewed. When he first came here he was issued a temporary drivers license that expired a month ago.

About a week ago we received a 'Notice of Action' in the mail. This allowed him to get another drivers license. The DMV gave him a temporary piece of paper to act as a drivers license. He has to wait 30 days to receive the actual card in the mail. The problem is that we just moved to another state and a potential employer needs to him to have a photo Id with his address on it... or at least a U.S ID. All he has is a Jamaican ID, Jamaican passport and a social security card.

Does anyone know how to go about this? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I suggest that you should go to the local DMV and find out what is the process of obtaining a DL from them. I believe that each state is somewhat different. It would help to know which state.
